Our new station
in Labasa is 150 miles to the North of our main facility in
Lautoka. We use two ways to transport the fish to our main
facility - Sea freight and air freight. Sea freight is the
most economical but takes over 24 hours whereas Air Freight
is expensive but only takes 45 minutes. This station is set
up to do mostly fish but we have also set up community
workshops on two separate islands to teach them coral
farming and we will provide the market and income for these
projects that are just underway. This was a very complicated
venture for WSI and many government meetings and
requirements had to be satisfied over a two year period once
we expressed interest.
