  FISH SYSTEM
Our fish system is capable of holding over 2,000 fish separately and many thousands more community fish in the larger tanks. We are now getting ready to expand this system to accommodate for fish coming down from our northern station.

CORAL SYSTEMS
Actually there are six separate holding systems that serve different needs for the corals in our care. Every system is chilled to a temperature that best suits the corals we hold in them and special lighting is installed which varies according to need. In addition there are two invertebrate systems, one for starfish and one for snails and anemones.

  STAGING SYSTEM
In this system we hold the corals the divers just bring in. This allows us to count the pieces for each diver and inspect for any damage or poor quality. Once we are satisfied these corals get put into the appropriate system into our inventory the following day.

ACCLIMATION SYSTEMS
We use these two systems every time we bring fish in from a long journey such as our Northern station or a two day dive trip to a distant reef. It is very important to acclimate the fish in order to condition them into our holding tanks.

WHITE SYSTEM
This system is lit by 8 bulb T5 fixtures end on end. We use these tanks mostly for large polyp stony corals and we kick up the circulation with the use if Tunze recirculating pumps at either end.

LONG SYSTEM
This is our acropora and small polyp stony holding system. We use over 200 “ECORAY” LED 60 bulb and 120 bulb fixtures to light these corals. The corals have never looked better since we changed from 1000 watt MH fixtures and Deb like the changes in our power bill as well.

EXPERIMENTAL FARMING SYSTEM
We use this farm to experiment with different types of rare coral we would like to grow and also we run experiments on the long term effects of the LED lights. Since these corals do not come and go from our inventory we are able to learn a lot from watching them over time.

SOFT CORAL SYSTEM
The name of this system speaks for itself and it is where we hold all the softies and colony rock. We like to age this stuff a little longer than most other corals so this is usually very full. We use the 8 bulb T5 fixtures here as well.

AQUACULTURE STAGING SYSTEM
We use this system to hold our freshly plated corals overnight until the cement hardens. We have found that if we put the “just planted” corals in the ocean too soon the wave action will knock them out of the mounts and onto the ocean floor. This was a valuable lesson to learn and our system works great for this purpose.

AQUACULTURE AREA
We In this area we make all of our man maid cultured live rock and coral plugs. We can make about 4,000 kgs of rock and about 2,000 coral plugs per week. This has become a very active part of our yard.
